A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF LEXICAL AND GRAMMATICAL POLYSEMY IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK: LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL INSIGHTS

This article explores lexical and grammatical polysemy in Uzbek and English, comparing the
possessive case suffix (…ning) in Uzbek with the "the … of" construction in English. It
highlights their polysemantic properties, emphasizing both similarities and differences. The
study also examines euphemisms to illustrate the cultural and contextual aspects of polysemy.
The research contributes to the theoretical understanding of polysemantic cases and phrases,
aids translation practices, supports language learning, and promotes the international
recognition of Uzbek.
