Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive overview of the biologically active substances found in medicinal plants and their potential health benefits. Medicinal plants have been used for centuries in various cultures to treat a wide range of ailments due to their rich content of bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, terpenoids, phenolic acids, and essential oils. These substances exhibit a variety of therapeutic effects including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, analgesic, and anticancer properties. The article also explores the role of these compounds in modern medicine, highlighting their potential applications in pharmaceutical products, supplements, and natural therapies.
