Abstract

This study examines the possibility of implementing Global English Language Teaching (GELT) in a Japanese university setting. The research employs a case study of in-service teachers to identify perceived problems and barriers to implementing GELT principles, such as attachment to existing standards, lack of understanding of other approaches, and insufficient training. The findings emphasize the necessity of providing institutional support and tools to help educators transition to GELT, as well as cultivating a collaborative culture. Ultimately, this study seeks to illuminate how GELT might be effectively integrated into current English language education procedures, fostering a more inclusive and representative approach to language teaching.
